Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Cesar Izturis went 2-for-3 with three RBI and knocked in the eventual winning run in the eighth, as Baltimore survived a late Yankee rally to take a 5-4 win over New York at Camden Yards for its first home win of the season.

Rhyne Hughes and Nolan Reimold each drove in a run for the Orioles, who had dropped their previous six at home to start the year. Alberto Castillo (1-0) got the win for throwing 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, fanning three.

Nick Swisher and Robinson Cano each went 3-for-4 and Jorge Posada homered for the Yankees, who have dropped four of five. David Robertson (0-1) was charged with two runs on three hits while recording just one out to take the loss.

Both starters were effective on the mound with New York's Phil Hughes going 5 2/3 innings and giving up one run on two hits, while Kevin Millwood allowed two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings for Baltimore.

Izturis' RBI single in the eighth gave Baltimore a 5-2 lead heading to the ninth and the ball was turned over to Alfredo Simon, who was brought up from Triple-A Norfolk before the game. He struck out Curtis Granderson, but Swisher singled and Nick Johnson followed with a pinch-hit walk.

Derek Jeter then struck out, but Brett Gardner hit a grounder to short that took a bad hop over Izturis' glove and Swisher came home to score. Mark Teixeira followed with a single to right to make it a one-run game. Alex Rodriguez, though, hit into a fielder's choice at second to give Simon his first career save.

Baltimore scored first in the second after Hughes loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a walk. Izturis then worked a free pass to bring home Luke Scott for a 1-0 lead. Hughes limited the damage by getting Adam Jones to hit into an inning-ending double play.

The Yankees tied the game in the second on a Miguel Tejada error. Swisher led off with a single and moved to second on Randy Winn's base hit. A groundout by Jeter moved both runners up and Gardner followed with a liner to third that Tejada misplayed, allowing Swisher to score.

Posada led off the fourth with his fifth home run of the season to give New York a 2-1 lead.

Hughes got the first two outs of the sixth and the Yanks then turned to the bullpen, which promptly gave up the lead.

Boone Logan came on to walk Scott and Robertson entered to hit Ty Wigginton with a pitch. Rhyne Hughes then punched an RBI single to center and Reimold followed with a base hit to left for a 3-2 lead. Izturis then made it a two- run edge with a third straight hit.

Castillo, who got the final two outs of the sixth, pitched a 1-2-3 seventh and Jim Johnson worked around a two-out single by Cano in the eighth.

In addition to bringing up Simon, the Orioles optioned pitcher Kam Mickolio to Norfolk and designated pitcher Wilfrido Perez for assignment...Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks to end his eight-game hitting streak...The Yankees took 13 of 18 against Baltimore last season...Both teams left nine men on base.
